In June of last year — pretty much a year to the very day that the Bavarian brand debuted its M3 Touring — BMW gave the motoring public its first glimpse of its forthcoming M5 Touring. And after several teasers (including a strange Santa-themed Christmas teaser) the company has finally pulled the cover off the all-new M5 Touring, revealing the highly-anticipated M-Class sport wagon alongside its specs, availability, and pricing.
A Practical Performer
While there’s absolutely no denying the M5 Touring’s rather extreme performance capabilities, a major part of what separates it from other race-bred road-goers is the fact that it genuinely makes for a pretty practical and utilitarian daily-driver, family-hauler, and grocery getter.
In addition to plush and spacious seating for five and a more-than-4,400-pound maximum tow rating, the new M5 Touring also boasts 17.7 cubic feet or cargo space that can be opened up to 57.6 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.
A High-Power Hybrid V8
Under the hood, the 2025 M5 Touring features a 4.4-liter V8 with the latest and greatest version of M TwinPower Turbo technology that makes 530hp and 532ft-lbs of torque. This twin-turbocharged V8 comes fitted with the BMW’s fifth generation of BMW eDrive technology, which adds its own additional 197hp and 206ft-lbs of torque — plus allows it to operate solely on its electric motor for around 40 miles thanks to its potent 18.6-kWh battery.
All told, the M5 Touring is good for a very respectable 727hp and 738ft-lbs of torque — figures that allow it to achieve a sub-3.5-second 0-60mph time. It also tops at out 155 mph, though this figure can be raised to 189 mph when this already-elite sport wagon is optioned with the available M Driver’s Package.
Chassis & Suspension
Unsurprisingly, BMW has opted to bestow the third-generation M5 wagon with a wildly advanced chassis and suspension setup. Riding on a staggered wheel-set with 20-inch front items and 21-inchers out back, the new M5 Touring features M-specific chassis technology with special vehicle dynamics.
This framework has been paired with a double-wishbone front axle and a five-link rear axle with model-specific kinematics, adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers, and Integral Active Steering — all of which benefits from M-specific tuning.
Moving Inside
The interior of BMW’s third-generation M5 Touring is just as impressive as its sleek aero-kitted exterior. It features a driver-focused cockpit complete with a newly designed M leather steering wheel, M multifunction seats, a BMW Curved Display and the standard BMW Head-Up Display with M-specific readouts, Merino leather trim, BMW’s Interaction Bar, four-zone automatic climate control, M-specific interior lighting, and a Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System — all as standard. BMW is also offering numerous interior options like active seat ventilation and a panoramic glass sunroof.
Other Standard Kit
Other noteworthy hardware and highlights on the wagon include the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system, an electronically-controlled Active M Differential, a bevy of drive modes, a Dynamic Stability Control system, and and M Compound brakes that can be upgraded to even more high-end M Carbon ceramic brakes.
