Thanks to an ideal blend of elegance, comfort, practicality, and raw performance, the Mercedes-AMG CLA45 S has long been one of the elite marque’s most popular daily drivers. In an effort to reward its most diehard fans, the company has just announced the debut of a new super-limited-edition four-door model with the 2024 Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S “Edition 1”.
A more exclusive version of an already elite model, the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S “Edition 1” benefits from a host of tweaks and upgrades found both the inside and outside of the vehicle. Cloaked in a top-shelf MANUFAKTUR Mountain Grey Magno race-inspired livery, the AMG CLA 45 S “Edition 1” comes standard with the brand’s AMG Aerodynamics Package which includes a noticeably larger front splitter, a rear spoiler, front canards, side skirts, and a rear diffuser. These aero elements are finished in an orange accent hue, matching the limited edition’s orange AMG Performance brake calipers. Riding on matte black 19” AMG cross-spoke forged wheels, the car also sports the AMG Night Package as standard as well. Moving inside, the cabin of AMG’s newest release has been trimmed in black microfiber upholstery complemented via orange accent stitching throughout. Fitted with AMG Performance seats complete with orange “CLA 45 S” branding on their integrated headrests, the interior of the “Edition 1” also features an AMG Performance steering wheel wrapped in Nappa leather and microfiber, an AMG trim package in aluminum and black, red-illuminated AMG door sill panels, and Edition 1-specific red lighting.
The AMG CLA 45 S “Edition 1 goes pretty much entirely unchanged in terms of its powertrain, mechanics, and hardware, though considering the equipment the regular model comes loaded with, this is far from a bad thing. Under the hood you get a hand-built turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four M139 engine cranking out 416hp and 369ftlbs of torque — all of which is sent to the ground via the car’s standard AMG Performance 4MATIC+ fully variable all-wheel drive system. Also equipped with AMG TORQUE CONTROL, the powertrain allows the AMG CLA 45 S “Edition 1” to reach 60mph from a complete standstill in 4 seconds flat. Further enhancing the vehicle’s performance is a rear differential with two electronically-controlled multi-plate clutches — each of which is connected to a rear axle driveshaft, thereby allowing drive power to be distributed variably between the front and rear axles, and selectively between the left and right rear wheels.
Priced at $81,1951 — a pretty major jump over the $66,550 MSRP of the 2024 CLA45 S Premium — the 2024 Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S “Edition 1” will be avialble for order in the coming weeks, though be sure to act fast if interested, as only 25 units are being produced for the North American market.
