Despite being founded in 2007, it wasn’t until last year that Lucid Motors brought its first electric car to market with the Lucid Air. And it appears the California-based EV outfit’s flagship luxury sedan hasn’t been the only machine that it’s been working on behind closed doors for the last decade and a half, as it’s now pulled the cover off of its forthcoming fully-electric Lucid Gravity Sport utility Vehicle.
The Lucid Gravity is a high-end luxury SUV that maintains the same hair-raising levels of performance as the Lucid Air range while boasting a taller ride height and a more spacious cabin. Benefitting from the same EV tech that’s earned the Lucid Air its slew of class-leading figures, the Gravity will reportedly feature the best range of any electric sport utility vehicle on the market, as well as the lowest drag coefficient. And while Lucid has yet to reveal the SUV’s power figures, based on the Lucid Air’s spec sheet, we anticipate an output of between 500 to 700hp.
The electric SUV shares its design language with Lucid’s existing flagship vehicle, with a horizontal strip LED headlight running the entire length of the hood and being flanked by a set of vertical LED strips just ahead of either front wheel. Equipped with flexible two or three-row seating setups with room for five, six, or seven adults, the Gravity also features an ultra-sleek glass cockpit that sports high-resolution displays that are powered by Lucid’s next-gen UX software interface. The SUV also comes loaded with ample storage space with an extra-large front trunk and a rear cargo bay that’s incredibly easy to access thanks to the use of a clamshell rear opening. Scheduled to be produced in several different trim levels, the Lucid Gravity will also be offered with an optional towing package.
Reservations for the entire 2024 Lucid Gravity SUV range is slated to open early next year, at which time pricing, availability, and a full spec sheet are expected to be revealed. Interested parties can sign up to receive updates on the Lucid website.
