First introduced in 2002, the Lexus GX is a full-sized luxury SUV that offers a more premium alternative to its Toyota-made counterparts. Despite its luxurious nature, the GX actually boasts some impressive off-roading abilities — an area owed to the fact that the SUV was based on the rugged Toyota Land Cruiser platform. And as the Japanese luxury brand prepares to unveil the all-new third-generation version of the SUV, Lexus is leaning into the model’s go-anywhere capabilities with a 2024 GX teaser that points to a luxury sport utility vehicle with some serious all-terrain prowess.
Since first debuting, we haven’t seen all that many changes made to the GX platform. In 2009, Lexus introduced the new 2nd-genration version of the GX, which it then followed up with a facelift in 2019. Expected to be released next year, the 2024 Lexus GX will represent the first all-new generation of the SUV in more almost 15 years. Thus far, Lexus has only shown off two close-up shots of the forthcoming SUV, though haven’t revealed anything about specs or what type of powertrain the GX will have.

What the teasers do confirm, is that the design team at Lexus is taking things in a markedly different direction for the third generation of the SUV. Deviating from the imposing yet elegant aesthetic of the existing full-size second-gen sport utility vehicle, the 2024 GX sports a decidedly sleeker and more futuristic appearance that’s also a lot more aggressive in nature — a look that’s become increasingly commonplace in the luxury off-road SUV segment. Angular LED headlights, a redesigned grille, and flared fenders with exterior cladding can all be seen in the teaser images.
Thus far, the company has yet to reveal a launch date for the 2024 Lexus GX SUV, however, we anticipate additional teasers to debut leading up to the model’s launch.
