As the creator of the Super Hooligan National Championship, Roland Sands is widely credited for playing a pivotal role in reviving and invigorating the contemporary flat track racing scene, both domestically and abroad. So it frankly didn’t come as a surprise when America’s oldest motorcycle marque announced that it had recently linked up with Roland Sands Design to deliver a limited run of Indian x RSD Super Hooligan edition FTR motorcycles.
Limited to only 300 units worldwide, the Indian FTR x RSD Super Hooligan is based on the moto-maker’s range-topping FTR R Carbon model, though the limited edition two-wheeler has been bestowed with a range of mods and elements inspired by or borrowed from Roland Sands Design’s Indian-based SHNC dirt-oval racers. This includes a Black Metallic livery complemented via authentic Super Hooligan race graphics, and Indian Motorcycle Racing’s No. 1 championship logo adorning the bike’s front and custom side number plates — the latter of which come standard on the RSD SH edition. Like RSD’s actual flat trackers, the limited edition also gets a red-finished frame and a matching set of red wheels with gold accent stripes.
It doesn’t end there, however, as Indian and RSD have also opted to lace the limited edition FTR up with an Akrapovič dual-can exhaust setup and heat shield, and a bevy of top-shelf billet components from Gilles Tooling including the bike’s oil cap, radiator cap, bar-end weights, and adjustable rear-sets. As an R Carbon-based bike, the FTR x RSD Super Hooligan retains the regular model’s carbon fiber bodywork, a fully-adjustable inverted front fork and rear piggyback shock from Öhlins, and a suite of Brembo braking hardware with dual-discs up front and a single rotor in the rear. The normal FTR’s 120-hp 1,203cc V-twin also goes unchanged.
The 2024 Indian FTR x RSD Super Hooligan is available now, with pricing set at $18,499 — only a $1,250 premium over the regular FTR R Carbon.
