First introduced in 2011, the Briggs Automotive Company Mono — better known simply as the “BAC Mono” — was a thoroughly game-changing high-performance automobile that combined traits of an F1 car with that of a street-legal go-kart. Despite the existing BAC Mono already being one of the sharpest and most-capable road-legal track weapons that money can buy, the boutique British marque has now rolled out a new and improved generation of this central-mount single-seater with the 2024 BAC Mono.

The new generation of the BAC Mono is kicked along by a revised mid-mounted, Mountune-developed naturally-aspirated 2.5-liter inline-four engine that revs up to 8,000rpm and has been optimized to deliver more power and a more dynamic driving experience. Mated to a six-speed motorsport-derived sequential transmission, this four-banger benefits from new high-tech forged con rods and pistons; performance-focused camshafts, uprated valve springs, an enhanced induction system with individual throttle bodies, and a new optimized carbon aero inlet fitted with a new carbon airbox. Now generating 311hp and 231ft-lbs of torque, this powertrain enables the latest Mono to reach 60mph from a complete standstill in 2.7 seconds — matching the 0-60 time of the existing BAC Mono R.

From the outside, the latest BAC Mono looks quite different from its predecessor. This is thanks to the team at Briggs bestowing the new model with a variety of design elements from the company’s range-topping Mono R model, with a much more low-profile offset intake scoop that gives the vehicle a more symmetrical-looking design while still looking thoroughly aggressive and idiosyncratic. Under the surface, the latest BAC Mono also features a unique state-of-the-art suspension setup those utilizes numerous proprietary elements including new two-way-adjustable racing dampers. Maintaining the outgoing model’s road-legal status, the car also rides on a special set of Mono-specific Trofeo R tires that were developed by BAC and Pirelli specifically for the new Mono.
