Late last year, Ducati unveiled its Panigale V4 SP (or “Sport Production”), an ultra-top-shelf version of the Italian superbike with a major boost in power and a suite of some of the finest GP-spec running gear that money can buy. Fast forward to today and the Borgo Panigale firm has now applied the same spare-no-expense treatment to its naked superbike, resulting in the Streetfighter V4 SP.
Brimming with components derived from both Ducati’s WSBK team and the brand’s carbon-framed and bodied Superleggera V4, the Streetfighter V4 SP features a lightweight race-spec Lithium-ion battery, carbon fenders, CNC-machined and anodized aluminum rear-sets, a mono-posto tail, MotoGP-derived carbon fiber aerodynamic winglets, a multidirectional quick-shifter, five-spoke carbon fiber wheels mated to aluminum hubs, thoroughly top-shelf Brembo Stylema R monobloc calipers, and an Öhlins suspension package with an NIX-30 fork and a TTX36 mono-shock backed by the Swedish suspension specialist’s second-generation Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 system. At the heart of the bike is a 1,103cc 90° V4 engine that’s paired with an STM-EVO SBK dry clutch with a carbon open clutch cover and puts down 208hp and 90.4ft-lbs of torque. Equipped with a six-axis IMU, the naked V4 SP also gets a full suite of electronic rider aids to keep its more than 200 horses in check, including Bosch cornering ABS EVO and slide, launch, wheelie, engine braking, and traction control systems. The abundant use of carbon fiber also allows for a weight savings of more than 6.5lbs compared to the standard model, with the SP tipping the scales at just 390lbs (dry). A replica winter test livery further separates the SP from the base model and regular S spec.
Priced at $35,500, the 2023 Ducati Streetfighter V4 SP is scheduled to roll into dealerships in February of 2022. Each of the less-than-one thousand units being produced will also be individually numbered, with a plaque set between the handlebar risers denoting each V4 SP’s production number.
