Cadillac is as American as apple pie. The Michigan-based automaker has been producing high-quality vehicles for almost 120 years, and while it has a variety of iconic cars in its lineup, it could be argued that the brand’s most successful and popular model is the Escalade. Known for its massive size and luxurious interior, the Escalade has long been a perennial favorite for car owners (and rap lyricists). Now, the luxury automaker is breaking ground by giving the 23-year-old SUV its first-ever V-Series treatment.
For the uninitiated, Cadillac’s V-Series is its high-performance program that’s comparable to BMW’s M division or Mercedes-Benz’s AMG brand, with the now-defunct CTS-V super sedan being the most iconic model from to ever receive the moniker. This V badge upgrade marks the first time the luxury automaker has given an SUV such a designation in the series’ 18 year history. It comes at the perfect time, as well. With competitors throughout the automotive space literally revving up their SUVs’ performance capabilities, Cadillac’s decision to augment its iconic SUV with a jolt of high-octane power is a safe, logical, and necessary choice.
While Cadillac has yet to release specificities of the Escalade V-Series’ performance capabilities, it’s abundantly clear from the press release that it will have a significant power upgrade. Moreover, we can also expect this Escalade to push the envelope from a technological and design standpoint as well, as Cadillac aims to make the new Escalade “encompass the peak of Cadillac performance, bold, distinguished design, and innovative technology.” The automaker has already released preproduction images of the Escalade V-Series, which retains the sleek design and massive scale we’ve all come to know and love about the big Caddy.
Cadillac has yet to announce a release date for the 2023 Escalade V-Series, however, the brand has stated that it will release more information about the souped-up SUV in Spring 2022.
