Already representing one of the world’s most exclusive and high-end grand touring models, Bentley’s Flying Spur was already offered in a trio of trim levels, though up til now, the model range has largely focused on luxury. This is, however, changing, with the debut of the new Bentley Flying Spur S — a driver-focused variant with a major emphasis on performance.
Bentley’s first S model to be offered with the buyer’s choice of either a hybrid V6 or V8 powertrain, the car is equipped with an optional twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine that’s good for 542.5hp, 568ft-lbs of torque, a 198-mph top speed, and a 0-62mph time of four seconds flat. The S-spec model is also being offered with an available 2.9-liter V6 hybrid powertrain that puts down 536.5hp and 553ft-lbs of torque — allowing for a 177-mph top speed, and a 0-62mph time of 4.1 seconds. The hybrid variant can also drive for more than 25 miles running purely on electricity. Bentley’s Dynamic Ride control and electronic all-wheel-steering also come standard on the S model.
Equipped with all-new Y-shaped 22” wheels, the exterior of the Flying Spur S sports metal S badges, gloss black lower bumper grilles, dark-tinted head and taillights, S badges on the front fenders, a blacked-out quad tailpipe arrangement, and Bentley’s wing badge and script in chrome, contrasting the rest of the black scheme. Available with a plethora of different two-tone color options, the interior of the Flying Spur S features handcrafted Dinamica and leather upholstery, quilted and fluted sport seats with S logos embroidered in the headrests, illuminated Bentley treadplates, and a new motorsport-inspired instrumentation setup. Weighing 5157lbs at the curb, the S-spec Flying Spur also boasts a 125.75” wheelbase and 14.83 cu-ft of storage space just in the trunk.
While pricing, full specs, and availability have yet to be revealed, the 2023 Bentley Flying Spur S is slated to make its official public debut at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed, where the new model will climb the hill on June 23rd.
