Founded in 2015, Vagabund Moto is an elite Austrian customs shop that built its reputation on the back of its modern and futuristic takes on various cafe racers. More recently, however, the Graz-based garage has branched out into building both one-off cars as well as off-road-focused two-wheeled projects. And after bestowing its signature treatment onto a Honda Dominator and a KTM 350 EXC, Vagabund has once again turned to the Ready To Race brand for its next go-anywhere build, this time modifying KTM’s fully-electric Freeride E-XC.
Following in the footsteps of Vagabund’s KTM ‘Safari 350’ kit that broke cover back in April, the Freeride E sports a futuristic appearance with some light military-inspired vibes. Marking Vagabund’s first-ever electric build, the custom wears angular, origami-esque bodywork that’s been created through the use of additive manufacturing and consists of a new front plate, custom front and rear side covers, and a new “tank” cover. Vagabund also whipped up a custom aluminum license plate holder that juts out from the swing-arm via a bespoke billet arm, as well as a notched, flat MX-style seat upholstered in black Alcantara.
As one of the most capable electric dirt bikes on the market, the crew at Vagabund opted to leave the donor’s chassis, suspension, wheels, and powertrain untouched — aside from the framework being powder-coated. This means the project still boasts the stocker’s WP XPLOR fork and shock — and the 9.8” and 10.2” of travel that they respectively afford. Other additions to the project include a modified front fender plucked from a Husqvarna TC85, and a bespoke bracket that now accommodates an offset Highsider LED auxiliary light that serves as the build’s headlight.
The Vagabund Moto 2022 KTM Freeride E-XC-based Freeride E build is currently for sale on the Austrian outfit’s webshop, with an asking price of €19.900 (~ $20,700). What’s more, because much of the build was 3D printed, Vagabund very well may turn this one-off project into a limited production kit.
