In 2018 Ducati introduced its latest flagship superbike with the Panigale V4 — a four-cylinder model derived from the firm’s MotoGP bikes that was also the Italian brand’s first non-L-Twin engined motorcycle since the early 1970s. And while the current generation of the flagship model undeniably already represents one of the most cutting-edge superbikes in production, Ducati has nonetheless opted to treat the four-cylinder superbike to a major overhaul for the 2022 model year, updating and upgrading just about every facet of the Panigale V4 in order to deliver a more potent, track-focused offering.
Benefitting from a revised aerodynamics package, new ergonomics, an improved engine, an upgraded chassis, and an even more advanced electronics system, the 2022 Panigale V4 is the lightest and most powerful version of the base model to date. In addition to shaving 11lbs off of its total weight, the 1,103cc Desmosedici Stradale V4 engine at the heart of the bike has seen its power figures rise from 210hp and 91.45ft-lbs of torque to 228hp and 96.6ft-lbs, respectively. Unlocking this additional power was partially achieved through the use of a new available DP3 titanium exhaust system that was developed in collaboration with Akrapovič. What’s more, alongside an all-new WSBK-derived gearbox, the 2022 model year Panigale V4 bikes have also received a new double-profile aerodynamic winglet design that, despite being thinner and more compact, manages to be more efficient, affording more than 80lbs of downforce at speeds of 186mph. As per usual, Ducati is also offering the more high-end S-spec Panigale V4, which gains an electronically controlled Öhlins suspension setup with an NPX 25/30 USD fork, a TTX36 mono-shock, and a steering damper, plus carbon fiber fenders, a red and black seat, and tri-spoke forged aluminum alloy Marchesini wheels wrapped in track-ready Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tires.
Slated to hit dealerships in February of next year, the 2022 Ducati Panigale V4 starts at $23,295 while the up-specced 2022 Panigale V4 S is priced at $29,995. Both models are also being offered with a wide range of optional accessories and add-ons, as well as officially-licensed Ducati riding gear.
