Few if any watch brands are as associated with exploring the outdoors as Luminox, which makes ultra-rugged timepieces built to handle the toughest conditions. Now, Luminox is taking its love for the outdoors to the next level with the latest watch in its ongoing collaboration with famed adventurer Bear Grylls.
For the new Bear Grylls Survival Master #tide watch, Luminox tagged in innovative Swiss-based upcycling company #tide Ocean Material to apply its signature eco-conscious treatment to the timepiece. #tide employs local fisherman off the coast of Thailand to source ocean-bound plastic, which it then recycles and turns into its own versatile plastics and textiles. In the case of the Bear Grylls Survival Master #tide, Luminox and #tide worked together on a new 100% recycled ocean-bound plastic material that makes up the case and bezel of the watch, providing as much durability and water resistance as Luminox’s own proprietary CARBONOX material. The nylon-like strap of the watch is also crafted from #tide 100% recycled ocean-bound plastic material.
In addition to its planet-friendly construction, the watch also contains a number of features that make it ideal for exploring Mother Nature. The crystal is anti-scratch sapphire that’s been treated with anti-reflective coating, the Luminox Light Technology tritium gas tubes provide up to 25 years of self-illumination, and the screw-in crown with its double security gasket helps to provide 200m of water resistance. Rounding things out are a Swiss quartz chronograph movement, a static inner compass bezel, and an external unidirectional timing bezel.
Offered in a trio of colors with matching dials and straps — yellow, blue, and OD green — the Luminox Bear Grylls Survival Master #tide watch is available now on the brand’s online store for $975.
