Fermented agave-based drinks have been consumed for centuries, dating all the way back to the time of the Aztecs. Though markedly more refined in a form we now call tequila or mezcal, agave remains the primary ingredient in this idiosyncratic spirit, as well as the fuel for many of the good times shared between friends amidst the year’s warmer months. And with the summer now on the immediate horizon, Huckberry is paying its respects to the desert plant and its ties to tequila via a special collaboration with noted footwear brand Chaco that’s been christened the “Agave Collection.”
Featuring Chaco’s trademark polyester webbing adorned in a unique agave pattern design in desert colors and accented with Huckberry branding, the limited-edition Chaco x Huckberry Agave Collection is being produced in a classic Z/1 version as well as in a slide-style Chillo variant. Made in America using vegan-friendly construction throughout, these special edition sandals sport blown-EVA midsoles, contoured LUVSEAT polyurethane footbeds, and Chaco’s adjustable webbing Z/Straps with ladder lock buckles. Both models are designed for use in rugged, arid, and unforgiving regions — not unlike the parts of the Americas that agave is native to — though lend themselves equally well to days at the beach or in the backyard. Available now in limited numbers, the Huckberry x Chaco Agave Collection starts at $60 for the Chillo slides and goes up to $110 for the Z/1.
