In motorcycling’s infancy, there were dozens and dozens of bike startups operating just in America. The vast majority of these fledgling firms would eventually close their doors — most sooner than later in fact — however, one brand that’s undeniably managed to stand the test of time is Harley-Davidson. And with 2023 marking the MoCo’s 120th anniversary, the company has opted to celebrate this illustrious occasion on several fronts – one of which is with the Milwaukee marque’s Limited Edition 120th Anniversary Apparel & Accessories Collection. Though this collection is comprised of several hundred items in total, there are undoubtedly a few pieces that anchor this celebratory limited edition drop, such as the Harley-Davidson Men’s 120th Anniversary Varsity Jacket.
Available in either a traditional or slim fit custom silhouette, Harley’s 120th Anniversary Varsity Jacket is cut around a heavy-weight woven wool-poly construction body that’s been paired with midnight cowhide sleeves and a full quilted taffeta-poly lining. On top of being quilted, a bit of added light poly-fill affords the jacket some extra warmth as well, without adding any noticeable bulk. Harley has also bestowed the varsity jacket with a full suite of custom 120th Anniversary-branded hardware.
Sporting H-D’s classic black and orange colorway, the 120th Anniversary Varsity Jacket boasts a myriad of nods to the company’s rich history of two-wheeled competition. This includes oversized embroidered felt “HD” patches across the chest that harkens back to its first race jersey from 1911, as well as “factory racing” chainstitched embroidery that’s modeled after Harley’s 1914 factory race team’s jerseys. What’s more, the graphic adoring the sleeve sports a modified upswept silver wing bar and shield used by the brand’s 1970s era race teak, and an oval patch on the back of the jacket that’s directly inspired by an ‘80s era race team jacket. Rounding out the jacket are contrasting waistband and cuff stripes, interior taping and labeling, double-welt hand-warmer pockets, a locker hanging loop, a snap-secured front closure, and rib-knit collar, waistband, and cuffs.
