Girard-Perregaux’s Aston Martin Watch Uses Materials from Previous F1 Cars

Since joining forces over a year ago, Aston Martin and Girard-Perregaux have unveiled some of the best timepieces in the watch-auto collaboration world, first with last summer’s spectacular Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges and then again a few months later with a limited edition of the Laureato Chronograph with integrated bracelet. Now, the Swiss watchmaker has unveiled its third release in concert with Aston Martin, and it’s yet another standout.

Made not only for Aston Martin’s racing team but inspired by them, the new Laureato Absolute Chronograph Aston Martin F1 Edition breathes fresh life into watchmaking with new materials that have previously never been used. The 44mm case (standard on the Absolute) is made from a combination of titanium powder and carbon elements taken from used F1 cars from the 2021 season. The components were then mixed with tinted resin for a unique composition that allows each individual timepiece to have a distinct look from one another.

The sunray dial is colored in Aston Martin Racing Green and features a cross-hatch design that dates back over a century to the “AM” badges from the British marque’s early years. The Laureato Absolute was originally made to be a sportier take on Girard-Perregaux’s classic Laureato, and this new F1 Edition for Aston Martin takes that appeal to a whole other level.

As a nod to the total distance Aston Martin drivers Lance Stroll and Sebastian Vettel will cover at the upcoming British Grand Prix this July, Girard-Perregaux is limiting the watch’s release to just 306 pieces, which go for $27,800 at select retailers.
