Evolving, in a sense, from the idea behind gravity folders and balisongs that used inertia instead of thumb studs, morphing knives are a relatively new phenomenon. Over a decade ago now, models like the Paragon Warlock and Caswell morphing karambit (commercialized later on by CRKT with the Provoke) led the way to what’s now a bit more commonplace, if not a natural evolution of knifemaking.
One brand who has put their own spin on morphers is WE Knife Co., who was able to nail the effect with the Typhoeus back in 2022, which could change from a straight-handle knife and a T-handle push-dagger configuration via a multi-pivot frame. It was tactical but not pocket-friendly per se. But now, the Chinese firm has debuted its NexoMorph, which can actually settle as a classic EDC folder if you really wanted it to be.

Three Faces
Founded in 2000 as a Yangjiang OEM shop, WE spent its early years building knives for other brands before launching its own premium line in the mid-2010s. The Typhoeus was its first real swing at a morphing platform, and while it was impressive mechanically, it was ultimately a niche play for most carry-conscious users. The NexoMorph is more like the everyman’s morphing knife.

Where the Typhoeus only offered two configurations, the NexoMorph adds a third: a standard folded carry position. That means you can pocket this thing, deploy it like any other folder, and never touch the morph mechanism if that suits you. But press the button lock and rotate the handle segments, and the geometry reshapes into a push-dagger where the blade points forward with the grip perpendicular. It’s the same multi-pivot frame concept but with full EDC practicality.

The Hardware
The 2.95-inch drop-point blade is ground flat from Böhler M390, stonewashed in black, and hardened to 58-60 HRC. The handle is titanium, including the screws and thumb stud, with a caged ceramic ball-bearing pivot that keeps the action smooth across the board. The button lock is spring-tensioned with just enough resistance to prevent accidental engagement but isn’t difficult to release either. The one notable absence here is a pocket clip, which is understandable given how the handle segments need to articulate.

Recap
We Knife Co NexoMorph
WE Knife Co.’s NexoMorph is a three-mode morphing folder that builds on the brand’s Typhoeus concept by adding a standard pocket-carry position to the mix, making it the first true EDC-friendly morpher they’ve put out. It’s got solid hardware to back up the party trick too, with M390 steel, full titanium construction, and a ceramic ball-bearing pivot.
