Back in 2021, The James Brand introduced the world to its most advanced knife to date with The Barnes. Sporting a single-piece integral handle design brought to life in billet titanium, The Barnes remains one of TJB’s most sought-after products, routinely selling out within just hours when new batches are released. And while the normal versions of The Barnes are undeniably top-shelf, this hasn’t stopped The James Brand from churning out ultra-premium limited edition versions of its inaugural integral knife — the latest of which to break cover is the new Barnes LTD Snakeskin Copper + Damasteel knife.

The Basics

Like prior Barnes LTD releases, this new version sees TJB take an already extremely high-end folding knife and treat it to something of a spare-no-expense material selection upgrade — with this latest version receiving upgraded Damascus blade steel, upgraded handle inlays, and a new blacked-out finish.

The Blade

While the normal Barnes’ Böhler M390 blade steel is nothing to scoff at — far from it in fact — this new LTD-spec gains a proprietary powder metallurgy Damascus steel in the form of a Damasteel DS93X Hakkapella pattern construction. Set on a ceramic ball bearing pivot, this new martensitic Damascus construction maintains the M390-spec’s 3.50-inch length and drop point profile.

The Handle

Like the regular version of this super premium EDC knife, this new LTD model is constructed around a single-price integral handle milled from Grade 5 titanium billet. What Separates this limited edition variant from the regular model is a  Snakeskin Copper carbon fiber handle inlay from FatCarbon on the knife’s show side. To complement the new Snakeskin Copper inlay, the entire handle — including its billet titanium pocket clip — has been cloaked in a black PVD coating. The blade has also been bestowed with a matching black thumb stud set.

Included Extras

When you purchase one of TJB’s regular $649 Barnes knives, you get the integral model, along with a removable integrated lanyard and a special challenge coin — items that are also included with the new LTD variant.
