This time of year is for camping, hiking, or at least taking some time to enjoy the outdoors. And if you plan on having any long-distance adventures, it’s best to have the proper equipment. Shoes are especially important, and it can be hard to find the right pair because you need something that’s comfortable yet durable. The French sports equipment label Salomon is one of those labels that have retained lasting trust since starting (all the way back in 1947), because you never need to wonder about the quality of its gear. And they’ve just released the Salomon Elixir Mid GORE-TEX shoes, a pair of mid-cut hikers with lasting comfort and durability.
Coming in at 474 grams, these hikers are built for long distances with an Energy Foam midsole that provides soft and balanced cushioning (Salomon’s in-house technology). The padded tongue and collar add to the comfortable support, and the soles have been designed with reverse camber geometry for a softer stride (along with 5mm lugs for technical trails and more comfort). The shoes also feature Salomon’s Active Chassis tech for stabilization and Sensifit tech for a more secure foothold. It’s all finished with a waterproof and windproof GORE-TEX membrane, so you can confidently tackle rough trails.
While you can certainly rock these how you want, Salomon recommends that you wear them for single-day hikes with some mixed terrain that’s not too crazy. The silhouette is also very much in line with the chunky shoes in style right now, so you could pull these off in the city with the right outfit. Also, with the recent popularity of the XT-6s (courtesy of celebrities like Bella Hadid), now seems like the perfect time to grab a pair of Salomons, whether they’re for the trails or not.
The Salomon Elixir Mid GORE-Tex is available now for $210.
