Pocket clips on knives have always been a necessary evil. You need them for carry, but they dig into your palm, snag on everything, and turn an otherwise sleek tool into something awkward to grip. Miami-based Peak Spec has been quietly building a reputation for thoughtful EDC solutions over the past few years, and their latest release, the Apex GhostClip, tackles this exact frustration head-on.

Disappearing Act
Building off their successful models like the Featherlite, Dart, and Paramount, Peak Spec looks to continue their status in the EDC world but while innovating the pocket knife category in the process. After three successful Kickstarter campaigns and 18 months of development, the brand now delivers something pretty unique. The patent-pending GhostClip system retracts completely into the handle when you don’t need it, coming out only when you press a button.
Traditional clips create pressure points during extended use, making your hand ache or “hot” after any prolonged use. As for the GhostClip, when it retracts, you get a completely smooth handle profile. No interruptions or sharp edges, just a clean G10 scale that feels seamless in your palm.

No More Snagging
More so than comfort, the retracted clip removes the chance of constant snagging that traditional designs might deal with. When it’s retracted, your pocket fabric stays intact and, best of all, your smartphone won’t get all scratches up.
Spring-assisted and tested to over 10,000 actuations, the deployment system is designed to give you satisfying tactile feedback that, say, an OTF knife might do. Except when you’re in the mood to fidget, you can do so with the GhostClip without a dangerous blade coming out.

Still a Great Knife
Beyond the clip innovation, the Apex is still a solid knife on its own. The modified sheepsfoot blade is versatile and offers precise control for detail work while still maintaining enough heft for general cutting tasks. And at 2.9”, it stays under most carry restrictions
For the blade, Peak Spec offers two steel options: D2 as the standard and M390 as an upgrade. D2 brings proven toughness and edge retention without bumping the price too much, while M390 is for true knife enthusiasts or those willing to invest in premium steel.
Continuing this practical approach, the G10 handle is textured for a secure grip and secures the blade with a liner lock. If that’s not enough, an integrated flathead screwdriver and pry tool are integrated into the package for extra utility.
