While most will associate the dawn of Nike will Michael Jordan, the Swoosh’s bread and butter still lie on the track and field, deeming virtually any new running shoe it releases worth talking about. The performance giant’s Vaporfly 3 is a testament to its innovation in footwear.
By implementing a new design and more lightweight construction compared to its predecessor, the third silhouette aims to promote a smoother workout across the board. While some of the shoe’s primary elements remain intact, including its full-length carbon fiber Flyplate and ZoomX midsole, Nike’s new midsole geometry boats a rounded finish that wraps the forefoot to provide maximum comfort with every stride you take. This, accompanied by the enhanced weight and previous materials, aims to result in advanced energy return and stability.
As far as the inaugural Prototype colorway goes, Nike’s Running Senior Footwear Product Manager claims it is an homage to the brand’s tireless development process and feedback sourcing. These slight details are acknowledged throughout the shoe, with one interesting example being graphic embroidery on the midsole denoting the number of Flyknit uppers tested — 57, to be exact. Additionally, the drop Swoosh logo is a tribute to Nike’s first-ever Vaporfly silhouette.
While no price has been revealed yet, the Vaporfly 3 will be available on March 6 through Nike’s webshop. Expect more colors to be unveiled in the coming months, as well.
