Nike Forward Is the Performance Brand’s Biggest Innovation Since DRI-FIT

Nike has proven that it knows no bounds when it comes to performance wear, as it has consistently managed to set the standard in virtually every department of athletics. Now, the world-famous athleisure label has managed to change the game yet again. Its highly-innovative Nike Forward material isn’t only a sustainable alternative to fleece but an alternative to how we perceive the textile overall.

Nike Forward aims to change how we think about fleece, as it is an entirely new material made using punch-needle machines that diminishes the need for the traditional knit and woven process, ultimately reducing its carbon footprint. The first product to undergo this cutting-edge technique is a Nike staple: the standard grey sweater. The material and its newly-implemented process are the results of over five years of research and innovation, going to show that the Swoosh practically remains unrivaled within its space.

Falling in line with the rest of Nike’s sustainability-driven elements like Flyknit, Next Nature, and others, Nike Forward’s adherence to keeping the planet clean makes the brand’s efforts even clearer. Interestingly, the Beaverton-bred brand touts it as its “most significant apparel innovation since Dri-Fit.” The moisture-wicking material was first introduced in 1991 and has served as a mainstay of Nike’s catalog, featured in everything from crew socks and running caps to basketball shorts to golf polos. With that in mind, it’s safe to guess that the capabilities of Nike Forward are equally limitless.

The first-ever Nike Forward Hoodie and Crew will be available on September 15. Nike is yet to disclose any pricing information.
