You rarely come across runway-appropriate outdoor gear, but Moncler is one of the exceptions in this field. And while its popular puffer jackets are a grail piece for fashionable outdoorsmen, the high-end Italian clothier is looking to venture further into nature with its GORE-TEX-fitted Trailgrip GTX sneakers.
The chunky new sneaker makes the most of its unique silhouette thanks to its array of technical elements. Starting with its breathable and waterproof GORE-TEX membrane, this shoe is perfect for unpredictable forecasts, as you can be assured that no water will make its way inside. This weatherized addition accents the shoe’s durable ripstop upper, which provides optimized flexibility and breathability. For added protection, the shoe is lined with quick-drying mesh.
When it boils down to staying comfortable, it’s worth noting that walking around in the Trailgrip GTX is akin to walking on a cloud — a very grippy cloud, at that. Thanks to its treaded Vibram outsole that extends from end to end — and well over the top of the toebox — the silhouette provides maximum grip and comfort regardless of the terrain. The sturdy compound is neighbored by a cushy EVA midsole and bits of carbon fiber in between the two soles, which combine to form a lightweight result with added protection from jagged rocks.
If you want some eye-raising shoes that perform remarkably well, it’s going to be hard finding a pair more distinct than these. Moncler’s Trailgrip GTX sneaker is now available on its online store for £540.00 (~$662).
