For those of you unfamiliar with LifeStraw, the brand has revolutionized our access to clean, drinkable water when adventuring or visiting places off-grid. Now used in its eponymous straw and Gravity Systems, the brand’s advanced filtration technology protects you from 99.999999% of all bacteria and 99.999% of parasites, microplastics, silt, and sand. LifeStraw has also put its filters inside pitchers and water bottles for use at home or in the office. Now, it’s updated its Go Series with a brand-new range of water bottles.

LifeStraw’s previous bottles were good, but not great. They were made of safe plastic and featured the marvelous filtration system that gave us perhaps the cleanest water possible. However, the lid lacked practicality for carrying, the folding straw was still technically exposed, and it only came in 22-ounce or 24-ounce versions. For this big update — the first since unveiled in 2019 — the company has removed the folding straw altogether and included a drinking spout instead, which is covered by a twist-on lid that’s leakproof and that you can actually grab on to (the previous model simply had a carabiner attached to the neck). Likewise, the lid protects the spout from bacteria that could collect throughout the day.

LifeStraw has also given us 1L options in both BPA-free plastic (made from 50% post-consumer recycled plastic) and double-wall vacuum-insulated stainless steel. When you drink your water from the Go water bottle, it undergoes a two-step filtration system. First, it’s sent through the membrane microfilter, which will last you for about 1,000 gallons of drinking. Then comes the activated carbon filter, which will only need to be replaced after you’ve put about 26 gallons of water through it.

With the new Go Series comes a slight bump in price. Available from LifeStraw’s website, the plastic water bottles start at $45, while the stainless steel version starts at $60.
