HOKA ONE ONE’s catalog of performance shoes is top-of-the-line as it is, but that didn’t stop the brand from revamping one of its most popular models for bafflingly better results. By updating its Speedgoat trail running shoes, the shoemaker has essentially flipped the previous pair on its head upon designing the line’s fifth iteration.
The fully re-imagined shoe — completely new “from outsole to laces,” says HOKA — boasts a double-layer jacquard mesh upper composed of recycled contents, adding a sense of style, security, and, above all else, sustainability. Weighing a half-ounce lighter than the previous generation at 10.30oz and employing a 4mm heel-to-toe drop, the Speedgoat 5’s lightweight prowess is on par with its protective cushioning abilities. The upper is rounded out with a set of recycled polyester laces, as well as a molded EVA sock liner, offering a perfect fit.
Thanks to their Vibram Megagrip outsole with 5mm Traction Lugs, these premier trail runners are loose dirt’s and pebbles’ worst nightmare, providing enough grip to outdo unsteady terrain with every stride you take. On top of this new addition, the vegan trail runners also boast a plethora of ultralight CMEVA cushioning in the midsole and HOKA’s proprietary late-stage Meta-Rocker, paving the way for an abundance of forefoot support as a result of placing a transition zone above the metatarsal heads.
A comfortable pair of shoes are integral to fulfilling your workout routine, and these are arguably as impressive as it gets in that regard. HOKA’s Speedgoat 5 is available through the brand’s site now for $155.
