HOKA and Cotopaxi are both acclaimed by athletes and outdoor explorers, which means the team’s ongoing collaborations (especially on shoes) are often fan favorites. The Torrent 2 Trail Running Shoes previously released by the pair were a match made in heaven with Cotopaxi’s playful design complementing HOKA’s athletic performance. And now the labels are back with the HOKA X Cotopaxi Anacapa Breeze Low sporting a bold new colorway.
Two months ago, HOKA updated two of its Anacapa models, the Breeze Mid and Breeze Low, to perform better in hot climates and improve sustainability. This second collaborative effort between the brands is assembled with the updated version of the HOKA Breeze Low and now Cotopaxi’s design. These unisex runners come in at 415 grams with a mid-heel-to-toe drop of 6 millimeters, making them a lightweight trail running companion. The ultra-ventilated upper, Vibram Megagrip outsole, and extended HUBBLE heel are present, making impacts gentle. But the real stars of the show are Cotopaxi’s signature hues, with sky blue on the outsole and earthy reds on the upper. The upper is made from 100% recycled upper and yarns, along with recycled polyester in the collar, mesh, and lace, and a liner made with 50% soybean oil.
The sustainability efforts by the team are backed by a partnership with the True Colors United Charity, which acts to prevent homelessness among highly impacted groups, including people of color and LGBT youth. HOKA and Cotopaxi are supporting the mission with a $60,000 grant. Through education and outreach, TCU is creating accessible programs now with some financial support from the two labels.
Made with recycled materials, the colorful and sustainable HOKA X Cotopaxi Anacapa Breeze Low can now be purchased in limited quantities on HOKA or Cotopaxi’s website for £140 (~$154).
