A Minimalist Icon Born
Named after a tiny Canadian prairie town where several generations of their family had lived, the Cormack brothers launched Herschel Supply in 2009 after accruing know-how in the worlds of footwear and sporting goods. Focusing on nostalgic designs and minimalism from the start, the brand’s travel bags caught on quickly. And before you knew it, you couldn’t go far without spotting their backpacks or duffels, sporting their now-iconic cursive logo.
Eventually evolving to include luggage in their range, Herschel is now one of our favorite travel brands for a reason, and their Kaslo Tote is case in point.
Form Meets Function
Designed to slip on your luggage with its thick pass-through strap, the Kaslo is constructed of 600D recycled polyester to keep a light 1-pound frame and can fit 23L of gear inside. Even the liner inside is made of durable polyester. If you don’t attach it to your suitcase, you can still use the adjustable top handles to lug it around. Plus, the trolley sleeve can zip up to keep a low profile.
Blending form and function like Hershel does so well, the tote bag has a sleek aesthetic with a monochromatic look, even down to the logo patch at the bottom corner.
Organized Yet Simple
For easier access, the main compartment zipper snaps to the side so it can open wider — a real issue with some other bags that give you difficulty when trying to dig through. This main compartment has several compartments for tech organization, plus a dedicated Bluetooth tracker pocket and a water bottle sleeve that can expand to fit different-sized bottles.
The outside of the bag gives you a dedicated zippered laptop compartment that’s padded and fleece-lined for protecting models up to 15 or 16 inches. There’s an additional external pocket that you can use to organize cables or chargers, equipped with a key clip inside. On the sides of the bag, there are two storage sleeves.
