Gerber has a long and illustrious history of crafting blades and tools that military personnel can trust with their lives. In fact, the Portland-based brand has been making survival and combat knives for the U.S. Armed Forces since 1968. And that legacy and tradition now continues with one of its latest tactical fixed blade designs, the Gerber Strongarm

Though its roots date back much further, the Strongarm’s lineage can be traced back to 1987 when the firm first started producing the Gerber BMF. This ultra-popular design would eventually evolve into the LMF, then the LMF II, then the Prodigy, and then finally, the Strongarm. The latest evolution of this revolutionary fixed blade benefits from over three-and-a-half-decades of development that have culminated in one of the most capable military knives on the market. Made in America, the Gerber Strongarm features a beefy, 0.19-inch-thick full-tang construction that’s been brought to life in 420 high-carbon steel. At nearly one-fifth-of-an-inch-thick, the Strongarm’s construction ultimately allows it to stand up to even the most rigorous uses and applications, from hard-use workhorse tasks to CQC use.

Spanning 9.75” overall, this robust full-tang construction culminates in a razor-sharp 4.875” drop point profile that makes the knife ideal for an enormous range of outdoor and military uses and applications. The 420HC tang has also been fitted with a rugged yet super-grippy rubber-like glass filled nylon substrate handle with a diamond-texture pattern. Also equipped with five notches on both sides of the top and bottom of the handle, this rubber overmold-style design is not only extraordinarily ergonomic, but it also allows the knife to feel incredibly natural, whether carried normally or held in a reverse grip. Backed by a lifetime warranty, the Strongarm has also had the bottom of its tang is capped off with a strike pommel with an integrated lanyard hole.

What’s more, in addition to being offered in Foliage Green, All-Black (seen here), or Coyote color options, the Strongarm can also be customized via Gerber’s online configurator.
