Though Buck Knives was founded back in 1902, it wasn’t until 1964 that the American brand would debut one of its all-time most legendary blades with the 110 Folding Hunter — a classically-styled outdoor-focused clip-point folder that boasts an iconic status in knife circles. In that same year, in the country’s Pacific Northwest, another now thoroughly iconic piece of heirloom-grade gear also first hit the market in the form of Nicks Handmade Boots’ inaugural pair of loggers. To celebrate the upcoming 60th anniversary of these two American-made gear staples, Nicks Handmade Boots has joined forces with Buck Knives to churn out a limited edition run of a special boot and blade collab.
Starting with Bucks’ contribution to this joint effort, we have the special limited 1964 Edition 110 Folding Hunter. This folding knife sports smaller scale pins complemented via a brass spring pin — design decisions modeled after the ‘60s era knife. The original knife’s brass bolsters, nail nick-opened clip point blade, and lock-back mechanism are all present on this limited edition variant, as well. And while this highly-authentic vintage recreation is undeniably cool, it’s the footwear component of this all-American collab that really caught our attention.
Built atop Nick’s HNW Moderate Arch Standard Toe last stacked atop a V100 lug outsole, these limited edition loggers feature 10” uppers crafted from 7-to-8oz Seidel-type smooth brown work leather. Both these boots’ design and their leather construction is directly modeled after the brand’s inaugural 1964 logger boots. In addition to seven pairs of brass speed-lacing hooks and five sets of matching brass eyelets, these rugged leather work boots also come loaded with waxed leather laces. Differentiating these 10” loggers from existing handmade boot models from Nicks is also a knife holder pouch located on the outside of the right boot. Fitted with a soft toe, these heirloom-grade boots are also fully re-soleable.
Produced in limited numbers for a limited time, the Buck Knives x Nicks Boots 1964 Knife and Boots Collab is available now with pricing set at $699.
