The Buck 110 is a certified classic, and there’s no debate. It’s been in continuous production since 1963, helped popularize the back lock as we know it today, and still remains one of the most instantly recognizable American folders ever made. But for all its legend status, actually carrying one in 2026 still feels like a bit of a commitment to the heritage ways. The brass-bolstered, ebony-scaled brick lives on your belt in a leather sheath, which isn’t really how most people want to carry their EDC blade.
Enter the Buck 110 Slim Heritage Elite (and its smaller sibling, the 112 Slim Heritage Elite), which is Buck’s official answer to a request that knife enthusiasts have been making for decades.

A Not-So-Secret Secret Menu Item
Here’s a quick fun fact about Buck: a slimmed-down 110 isn’t actually a new idea from the brand. Back when the company was still based in San Diego, an extra-thin version of the 110 was reportedly a “secret menu” build, quietly produced for folks in the know and popular among bikers who didn’t want a heavy brick riding on their hip during long rides.
Of course, that fabled internal favorite never made it to a proper production run. Now, roughly four decades later and a full state away in Post Falls, Idaho, Buck has finally made that off-menu item a general release for the rest of us.

Trimmed Where It Counts
The handle has been trimmed down quite a bit, clocking in at 0.375 inches from the original 0.62 inches, which is quite an improvement. Of course, Buck didn’t touch the 110’s silhouette. The 3.75-inch clip point blade, the gentle handle curvature, the bolster proportions, the Crelicam ebony scales, the nail nick opener, the rear-mounted back lock: all of it carries over.

The other major upgrade in the carry department is the addition of a deep-carry pocket clip, which again, makes all the difference in daily carry. It’s stainless, tip-up, right-hand only, but it’s there. Finally.

MagnaCut Joins the Party
The standard 110 has run 420HC for years, and there’s technically nothing wrong with 420HC. It’s tough, easy to sharpen, holds an edge well enough, and Buck’s BOS heat treat squeezes more out of it than most. But, with MagnaCut seemingly becoming the de facto steel of choice, it only makes sense that the legendary folder would join the club.

And we get it. MagnaCut is the increasingly popular steel that doesn’t really compromise anywhere. You get strong edge retention, excellent toughness, and meaningful corrosion resistance in one alloy. Pairing it with Buck’s BOS heat treat and a classic hollow-ground clip point easily makes this the perfect 110 for EDC.
