Each year, Böker Manufaktur Solingen releases what it calls its Annual Damascus Knives. A tradition that’s been carried out each year since 1980, the Annual Damascus — or Damast — Knives are comprised of existing fan-favorite blades from Böker that have been treated to ultra-top-shelf limited edition reduxes. And this latest year is no different, with the 154-year-old German knife brand having just unveiled the new Böker Damast Annual Knife 2023.
Marking Böker’s first collaboration with Ricardo Romano Bernandes — a Brazilian-born Sicilian designer that’s been crafting knives for over 30 years — this limited edition model is a super high-end interpretation of a traditional pocket knife. Measuring 6.46” overall, the knife is constructed around a self-supporting laminated gray G-10 handle with contrasting blue G-10 liners and a stainless steel slipjoint mechanism. Keeping the handle’s design ultra-clean is a set of flush-fitting hardware adorning both sides of the scales. In total, the knife weighs in at only 1.80oz, too.
Made in Solingen, Germany, this top-shelf gentleman’s knife features an even more impressive blade. This comes in the form of a 2.75” Sheepsfoot item composed of an Odin Eye Damascus steel from Swedish power metallurgy specialist Damasteel. Leaving the blade’s hundreds of layers on full display, this particular type of Damasteel is comprised of the brand’s own DS93X blade steel as its base. Deployed via a nail nick opening, the blade measures 0.10” thick. Just like with previous years, the Damast Annual Knife 2023 will be limited to just 999 units worldwide. Each unit’s production number has also been engraved onto the spine of the handle’s slipjoint mechanism. Alongside the limited edition knife itself, each unit also ships with a certificate of authenticity and a suspended display box.
The Böker Manufaktur Solingen Damast Annual Knife 2023 will be available for order soon, with pricing set at $404.
