Bowlus’ Volterra Camping Trailer Is the First-Ever All-Electric RV

Fortunately, the camping and glamping industries were actually able to benefit from the recent global pandemic. RV sales skyrocketed and peer-to-peer rental outlets like Outdoorsy and RVezy have seen a massive uptick that still hasn’t seemed to slow down. And with the preponderance of people now working from home, many have transposed their offices to luxury camping vehicles in which to carry out their day-to-day tasks in peace.

Recently updating its line of zeppelin-like trailers, Bowlus has not shown any signs of slowing down its innovative spirit. The California-based company has just added to its collection the Volterra, which it’s pegging as the first-ever all-electric RV. Despite being towed behind a vehicle, this claim simply means that all of its functions are battery-powered rather than gas-powered, using a 17kWh lithium iron phosphate battery that has a 100% increase in capacity over its Terra Firma model. While the applications of this technology may do wonders for decreasing our carbon footprint, they will also make venturing off the grid more reliable and sustainable — and quieter.

Aside from the induction cooktop stove and silent hydronic heating system that evades the need for propane, the inclusion of AeroSolar technology lets you charge up while driving and camping so that you can ditch those noisy generators as well. Also utilizing Starlink, the Volterra is the first trailer with high-speed satellite internet so you can do remote work anywhere your heart desires. Sleeping up to four people, the RV also comes with a spacious hotel-style bathroom with a shower.

Bespoke customizations can also be added through Bowlus’ website, where the Volterra is now available starting at $310,000.

Purchase: $310,000
