It’s finally October and that means we’re headed into the tail-end of the year. That also means that the holiday season is fast approaching, so you might want to start thinking about picking up some gifts for those in your life you hold dear. And, if those folks happen to enjoy everyday carry gear, you can’t really go wrong with a new EDC knife.
Thankfully, the folks at Blade HQ are always on top of things when it comes to new and upcoming bladed tool releases (and everything related to them, plus a few other pieces of gear you might enjoy). That means that now is the perfect time to take a gander at their recently-added offerings as potential holiday gifts for your friends, family, colleagues, or even yourself (there’s nothing wrong with being nice to yourself from time to time). To ease your search, we’ve snagged five of our favorite new EDC knives released in October of this year. Stay sharp!
SOG Terminus XR Blade HQ Exclusive
SOG’s Terminus XR is already one of our favorite budget-friendly tactical folders around, but it is made even better with its Blade HQ-exclusive OD green Micarta handle scales. That goes double when you remember that it also boasts a reliable and easy-to-use XR locking mechanism, a reliable D2 tool steel black-finished blade, and a tip-up deep carry pocket clip. And it gets extra points for looking as good as it does.
Blade: D2
Handle: Micarta
Blade Length: 3″
Total Length: 7″
Lock Type: XR
Olight Oknife Drever Knife
Best known for their exceptional EDC flashlights, Olight has taken the plunge into another everyday carry category: knives. And it looks like they’re fairly well-practiced if the Oknife Drever is any indication with its Bohler N690 sheepsfoot blade, grippy G-10 handle scales, and its reliable liner lock. This release makes us excited to see what else the brand has in store for the future.
Blade: Bohler N690
Handle: G-10
Blade Length: 3.5″
Total Length: 8″
Lock Type: Liner
WE Knife Co. Quark Neck Knife
At its widest point, this minuscule neck knife clocks in at under two inches, making it one of the most easily concealed fixed blades we’ve ever come across. Of course, its small stature does not mean that it isn’t exceptionally built — it very much is. That includes a titanium coin-shaped handle with a Japanese kiridashi-style Bohler M390. If there was a knife that best exemplified the phrase “tiny but mighty,” this is it.
Blade: Bohler M390
Handle: Titanium
Blade Length: 0.47″
Total Length: 1.57″
Lock Type: N/A (Neck Knife)
Gerber Fastball Blade HQ Exclusive
Gerber’s Fastball is already one of our favorite knives to come out in recent years. And while this version shares its same size specs and familiar silhouette, it also gets a noteworthy upgrade in its slightly translucent natural G-10 handles. It also boasts a reliable liner lock, CPM-S30V modified Wharncliffe blade, and a buttery-smooth pivot. Oh yeah, you can only get this version on Blade HQ.
Blade: CPM-S30V
Handle: G-10
Blade Length: 3″
Total Length: 7.1″
Lock Type: Liner
Benchmade 945BK-1 Mini Osborne Knife
Benchmade’s now-legendary Osborne knife — named after its late designer, Warren Osborne — is one of our favorite EDC knives of all time, but it is a bit unwieldy for many people thanks to its large format. Well, now you can have the same silhouette and materials in a much more manageable format courtesy of the Benchmade 945BK-1 Mini Osborne, which has G-10 handle scales, an AXIS locking mechanism, and a CPM-S30V black-finished blade. And it manages all that while measuring up at just 6.76″ overall.
Blade: CPM-S30V
Handle: G-10
Blade Length: 2.92″
Total Length: 6.76″
Lock Type: AXIS
