Audemars Piguet Unveils an All-Blue Ceramic Version of the Royal Oak

Every time Audemars Piguet releases a new version of its iconic Royal Oak, the watch world kinda goes crazy. Debuting its Perpetual Calendar with the all-black ceramic case back in 2017, the Swiss firm then struck gold…er, ceramic…once again with the all-white ceramic version in 2019. Since then, the black and white materials have been applied to other variants of the Royal Oak, with the ceramic iteration arguably becoming AP’s most beloved, if not breath-taking, timepiece in the legendary line-up. So it only makes sense that enthusiasts were clamoring for a new colorway.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Royal Oak and Audemars has been rolling out some truly impressive timepieces, including its very first all-blue ceramic Perpetual Calendar. Using cutting-edge colored ceramic material, the brand’s latest watch isn’t just more scratch-resistant than its titanium or steel counterparts, but is possibly the most beautiful variant of the model yet. Evoking the clear night sky, its hands and indices are made of white gold and lumed, pairing perfectly with the matching blue Grande Tapisserie dial behind them.

Within the 41mm case, the new Royal Oak boasts the in-house caliber 5134 self-winding movement that powers the calendar complications, as well as the moon phase subdial, and has a 40-hour power reserve. Glare-proof sapphire crystal is given to the front dial and the exposed caseback. The integrated bracelet is also made of the blue ceramic material but has a titanium folding clasp.

The price for the new blue Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar is available only upon request from Audemars Piguet’s website.
