While the iconic Imperial Hotel recently turned 132 years old, it is celebrating another birthday. The Tokyo-based hotspot’s second main building, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, is on the brink of turning 100, and the Imperial is now offering the chance to stay in an exclusive suite inspired by the iconic architect.
Measuring just over 2,300 sqft, the sumptuous room is highlighted by authentic designs and motifs found throughout the iconic building, in addition to other emblematic structures designed by Wright. These original elements are put on full display through the use of original carpeting, furniture, and lighting. Additionally, his inimitable design language makes itself known from the moment you step in, as the foyer’s walls are decorated using Oya stone, inspired by designs from the Imperial’s original Wright Building.
Moving forward, signature designs are implemented throughout the wall decorations, lamps, ceiling moldings, and intricate latticework. And while it is nice enough to convince you to stay inside all day, remind yourself you’re on vacation by looking out the window to oversee the transcendently tranquil Hibiya Park and Imperial Palace Gardens. Although the suite initially opened in 2005, this is the first time guests can book a visit in the room itself, as the package includes a free daily drink at the Old Imperial Bar.
