Apple’s Third-Gen AirPods Offer Extra Battery Life & a Familiar Design

Since the conception of the original wired Apple Earpods back in 2012, their sleek white design has managed to completely alter the landscape of the earphone game. It almost goes without saying that Apple’s wireless evolution of that design, AirPods, have grown into a social norm in the same fashion as the brand’s flagship smartphone. Now, Apple has managed to alter how most everyone will listen to music yet again with the just-announced third generation of AirPods.

The staple brand’s latest wireless earbuds boast a look extremely reminiscent of their most recent release in the AirPods Pro, adopting the latter’s much shorter stem, sweat and water resistance, and force-sensor control abilities in place of the tapping initially required with the standard rendition earphones. Unlike the Pro, however, these do not offer active noise-cancelation or transparency mode, though they practically manage to take everything else from their premier counterpart, and then some. With an extra hour of battery life, Apple’s latest generation of AirPods will offer a total of 6 hours after one full charge, making it their longest-lasting earphones to date, besting the Pro’s 4.5 hours of play and the second generation’s 5 hours. Of course, the option to wirelessly charge is still offered through varying additional accessories. And while the new generation does not offer either of the Pro’s more significant modes, much of the AirPods’ upgrade is implemented to fit the average audiophile’s needs. With Adaptive EQ geared to fit the way the listener is supposed to hear their music and dynamic head tracking, a feature that was initially equipped solely for the Pro and Max models, Apple’s latest AirPods rendition offers some next-level ways to listen.

Apple’s third-generation AirPods look to offer a more seamless listening experience in comparison to previous incarnations, and they may even manage to give the brand’s pricer pair a run for their money thanks to their premium look and premier audial specs. The new Airpods go on sale on October 26 for $179, and pre-orders are currently available at Apple’s online shop.
