Alpha Rolls Out a Retro-Inspired Luxury Four-Door Sedan with the SAGA

Though the Alpha Motor Corporation has yet to see a single production model roll off the assembly line, the American EV startup continues to unveil new models as the company’s production grows ever closer — the latest of which is the SAGA sedan.

Short for “Sleek and Adaptive Geometric Architecture,” the SAGA is essentially a four-door version of Alpha’s existing ACE model. Weighing 4,200lbs at the curb, the SAGA is being offered in a single motor RWD variant as well as a dual-motor AWD version — both of which offer a range of more than 300 miles on a single charge. Alongside seating for five and 14 cubic feet of cargo space, the SAGA’s interior also features a Bluetooth-connected central touchscreen display, vintage-inspired instrumentation, and a premium sound system. Riding on retro five-spoke wheels, the exterior of the vehicle boasts a rear carbon fiber spoiler, a rear bumper with integrated rear diffusers, and a front bumper with a built-in aero lip. Despite its unmistakably retro-inspired design, the SAGA still manages to cut through the wind with incredible efficiency thanks to a slippery 0.32 drag coefficient. And, while it does sport flared fenders all around, the lack of ground clearance and suspension travel makes it abundantly clear that the SAGA was developed solely for on-road use.

After being unveiled at the LA Auto Show, the Alpha SAGA is scheduled to enter production in the next year. Like the rest of Alpha’s forthcoming EVs, the SAGA is currently available for preorder on the manufacturer’s website.
