Of all the classic sneakers that have served the public over the past four to five decades, few silhouettes have proved to be as prominent as adidas’ Stan Smith. Through its minimalist appeal and versatile wearability, the shoe looks cool in just about every colorway, and that sentiment carries over to the performance brand’s latest rendition of Stans. Sneaker-loving Star Wars fans will be happy to hear that the iconic shoe is getting a Boba Fett-inspired makeover, but it’s probably not what you’re expecting.
The kicks are part of adidas’ “Star Wars Legacy of Boba Fett” collection, a partnership between the German shoemaker, Disney, and LucasFilm. Rather than going with the typical green, red, and yellow colorway, the shoes are a real deep cut, having been specifically inspired by the bewilderingly rare, L-shot rocket-firing Boba Fett prototype action figure; a highly-coveted relic in the collector’s community that has previously seen examples sold for upwards of $225,000.
While the sustainable shoes don’t feature any compositional changes, they boast a sky-blue colorway reminiscent of the classic toy and an icy midsole that recalls the prototype’s transparent nature. Lastly, the kicks are rounded out with a graphic of the action figure on the tongue. With so much hype around the Disney+ series The Book of Boba Fett, it’s refreshing to see that adidas is shining a light on the beloved bounty hunter in such a unique manner.
If you’re looking to channel your inner intergalactic fanatic with some new kicks, then this is simply the way to go. The Stan Smith Boba Fett shoes are available on adidas’ website for Creative Club members only and are priced at $90.
