adidas’ 3D-Printed 4DFWD 2 Is the Follow-Up to Its Award-Winning Running Shoes

Shopping for a new pair of running shoes, let alone shoes in general, is no easy task. Not only are everyone’s feet built differently, but the way they incorporate those feet into their gait while running is even more unique. However, there are ways for shoe companies to generalize as much as possible in order to maximize performance and comfort. The best version we’d ever seen of this was by adidas last year when it released the 4DFWD (pronounced “4D Forward”) running shoe, which took data compiled from the gait cycle of thousands of runners to make something as close to perfect as possible.

Well, the German shoe firm has found a way to improve upon that near-perfection with the 4DFWD 2, dropping this past week. Bringing back the intricate 3D-printed midsole that optimizes support and absorption, adidas revamped the uppers (made with 50% recycled materials) to blend Primeknit+ sock-like comfort with engineered mesh for maximum support and snugness. Likewise, the outsole also gets a plus-up, made with Continental rubber, which provides 30% more grip and significantly reduces the likelihood of slipping.

Available in either black with white accents or white with black accents, the 4DFWD 2 is built entirely to ensure that your run is as smooth as possible, no matter what your training regimen consists of, always propelling you forward by redirecting your foot’s impact. Weighing less than a pound, these runners are the new top-of-the-line pick.

Other features include lace enclosures and reflective stripes on the side. The 4DFWD 2 is on sale now through adidas’ website for $200.
