This Championship-Winning 1964 Shelby Cobra 289 Is Seeking a New Owner

Every genuine Shelby Cobra is considered an incredibly elite and valuable machine, however, there’s a small handful of specimens that stand above the rest, typically due to their ownership history, provenance, or race pedigree. And such is the case with this 1964 Shelby Cobra 289, better known by its chassis number, CSX2532.

Built at AC Cars’ UK factory in August of 1964 before being shipped to Los Angeles later that month, CSX2532 wore a Princess Blue exterior coat and a red-trimmed interior. Because Shelby’s supply of five-bolt block Ford engines had been exhausted, Shelby American opted to source a combination of ’64 and ’65 year powertrains — the only engines produced by the Blue Oval exclusively for Shelby Cobras. As an example that’s been outfitted with a Class A accessories package, CSX2532 currently boasts dual 4V carburetors and intake-manifold, a fiberglass bonnet scoop, chrome wheels shod in whitewall tires, a luggage rack, and of course, a 289ci engine.

More recently, the car has been gifted a completely refreshed, low-mile mill that’s paired with an equally-clean manual gearbox and differential. This has all added up to what’s become one of the fastest and winningest Cobras currently eligible for historic racing, with CSX2532 being responsible for multiple Masters Gentleman Drivers and GT & Sports Car Cup championship titles and race wins. In addition to the car itself, the sale of this Shelby also includes an enormous selection of original parts including a myriad of racing spares and its original Shelby-numbered engine.

Confirmed by the ACOC and SAAC as a genuine Shelby Cobra, this 1964 Shelby Cobra 289 CSX2532 is currently being sold through William I’Anson Ltd in Cotswolds, England, where the car’s price is available upon request.
