ASUS ROG Gaming Smartphone

Toward the tail end of last year, Razer announced that it was coming out with a smartphone to meet the rising demand of mobile gamers. Now it looks like they’ve got some serious competition in the form of the ASUS ROG Phone.

Looking to topple Razer with their own mobile gaming machine, ROG (which stands for Republic of Gamers), has unveiled that their smart device will feature a 6″ HDR display – with a 90Hz refresh rate and 1ms pixel response time – a whopping 512 possible gigs of storage space, and 8 gigs of RAM. And the whole thing is piggybacked on a (this is a mouthful) “Exclusive 2.96GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform” – essentially a high-end processor that can play video games as seamlessly as, say, a desktop PC. But it isn’t just a gaming machine, it also offers GPS support, is loaded with environmental sensors, has a hi-res audio system, 12 and 8 MP cameras, and so much more. No word on pricing and availability, but we imagine that info will be released soon.
