Even if you’re not a fervent football fan, you may be aware of the catastrophic injury of Aaron Rodgers at the beginning of the New York Jets’ season. Despite being out of commission on the field for at least the rest of this year, the quarterback has managed to find time to team up with Zenith to help design a very special, and limited, edition of the Chronomaster Sport watch while celebrating his own long and illustrious career in the process.
Nodding to the watchmaker’s ambassador, the chronograph’s most dominant feature is the color green, which has graced the jerseys of the only two teams Rodgers has played for during his professional career: the Green Bay Packers and the Jets. It’s featured on the ceramic bezel and the sunburst-finished dial, while various shades of gray or steel appear elsewhere on the watch. Counterweighted with the Zenith star, the yellow-tipped seconds hand ticks by 6 times faster than a typical seconds hand, matching up with the 1/10th-second bezel on the outside. And just like other Chronomaster Sport models, this watch has the date window at 4:30, blending in with the rest of the dial in its white-on-green design.
Surrounding the tri-color subdial configuration, featuring the colors anthracite, silver, and light gray, the applied Arabic numerals are shaped like the New York Jets jersey numbers. Likewise, the sapphire crystal on the exposition caseback features Rodgers’ signature initials. Housed in the 41mm stainless steel case is the impressive El Primero 3600 automatic high-frequency chronograph movement with 60 hours of power reserve. The El Primero movement family was the first automatic chronograph upon its debut in 1969.
If you’d like to purchase this Chronomaster Sport Aaron Rodgers Edition, you should act fast. The watch is limited to just 250 pieces, priced at $12,800 from Zenith’s website.
