Few brands mine their archives as well as Timex. Between the Q Timex line, the T80, and a steady drip of resurrected oddballs, the brand has spent the past few years fully leveraging its extensive back catalog.
So when a new digital surfaced this week looking like it had been sitting in a department store case since 1984, we assumed it was a reissue. But, not this time. The Timex Retroware Digital is a completely new design.
Nostalgia From Scratch
Rather than resurrecting a specific reference, Timex sat down and designed the ’80s sport watch it never actually made, channeling the spirit of the era without copying a single model from it.
The result is a watch that feels like a false memory. And the dial really sells it with enormous digits that swell and bow across the rounded display. It feels equal parts playful and legitimately easy to read at a glance.
All Killer, No Filler
Underneath it all, this is still a properly sorted daily digital. A quartz movement runs a chronograph, timer, alarm, and full calendar. There’s even two dedicated stopwatch pushers up front so you’re not decoding button combinations mid-run.
And yes, Indiglo is here. Timex’s glowing party piece remains one of the best reasons to own a cheap digital in 2026.
Big Case, Featherweight Feel
Now, 46mm is a lot of dial. But the resin case keeps things light, and at 11mm thick with a 50mm lug-to-lug, it wears flatter than the number suggests. Water resistance sits at a swim-friendly 50m.
Our favorite detail might be the acrylic crystal, the same warm, buffable stuff on vintage pieces.. Two colorways are on offer: grey-green with a reversed display and gold trim ring, or blue with a standard LCD, both on quick-release resin straps.
