When it comes to American watchmakers, no one is more legendary than Timex. One of the biggest watch brands in the world, the Connecticut-based stalwart has never been complacent with its lineage and has continued to churn out modern classic after modern classic, and some vintage-inspired pieces as well. Recently, it crafted one of our favorite sub-$500 dive watches on the market with the Deepwater Reef 200 GMT, which fuses tool-focused utility with everyday style in a big way.

Whether you’re looking for a desk diver, an underwater companion, or a travel watch, the Deepwater Reef GMT has it all. Housed in a 41mm stainless steel case, the quartz GMT movement gives you the ability to track a second time zone with a dedicated hand that points to the 24-hour inner bezel. To distinguish between morning and night, this ring is bi-colored in blue and red, creating a solid contrast against the black dial.

Oozing with style, the Deepwater GMT evolves the standard dive watch aesthetic by bookending the red-and-blue bezel with more black on the outer bezel as well. A large vintage-style cyclops date window and sizable screw-down crown give this timepiece a decidedly classic feel. Best of all, the styling is versatile enough to wear to the office or when flying across the country.

For underwater capability, the watch also boasts 200m of water resistance and features a handy 60-minute rotating bezel to keep track of your dive time (or anything else you’re needing to time). Lume is given to the handset and hour markers so you can still see the time in low light or even underwater. Lastly, the brushed stainless steel bracelet connects via a fold-over clasp at the end.
