Every modern Seiko diver, from the humble Turtle to the range-topping Marinemaster, traces its lineage back to a single watch: the 62MAS of 1965. It was the brand’s first true diver.
Seiko keeps that origin story alive through its Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver line, and the newest addition dresses the icon in colors borrowed from an Austrian lake. Say hello to the Europe-only Seiko Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver HBC010.
Sixty Years of Skin-Diver DNA
The HBC010 rides on the updated platform Seiko rolled out in 2024, and it remains the sweet spot of the entire Prospex diver lineup. The case measures a wonderfully wearable 40mm across, 13mm thick, and 46.4mm lug-to-lug, with the crown parked at 3 o’clock just like the original.
Now, don’t let the vintage proportions fool you into thinking this is a desk diver. Water resistance sits at a properly overbuilt 300 meters, backed up by a screw-down crown and caseback, a domed sapphire crystal, and a unidirectional 60-minute bezel.
Lake Hallstatt, On the Wrist
Seiko pulled its palette from Lake Hallstatt, a glacial dive destination tucked into the Austrian Alps, rendering the sunray-brushed dial in a deep forest green that reads nearly black in low light.
The matching green bezel insert gets cream inscriptions, while the applied markers and faceted hands are finished in gold with cream-toned LumiBrite fill. It’s a full gilt treatment on Seiko’s most historic silhouette, and we’d argue it’s the prettiest this platform has ever looked. The 4:30 date window carries over, for better or worse.
Three Days of Juice, Two Straps in the Box
Under the caseback beats Seiko’s in-house 6R55, an automatic caliber good for a full 72 hours of power reserve.
Seiko also includes its updated three-link bracelet, complete with a push-button clasp offering 15mm of tool-free adjustment in 2.5mm increments. Prefer something more wetsuit-friendly? A black silicone strap comes bundled in the box.
