When it comes to delivering bang for your buck, Oris has always marched to the beat of its own drum. Back in 2014, after 35 years of building watches around supplied movements, the independent from Hölstein dropped the hand-wound Calibre 110 and decided to price it just like an oridnary Oris.
The 111 followed a year later with a date, eventually settled into a pilot’s watch, and then sat essentially untouched for a decade. That drought ends now with the refreshed ProPilot Calibre 111.

Six Feet of Mainspring
The hand-wound Calibre 111 runs for an impressive 240 hours on a full wind. Oris achieves this from a single oversized barrel packed with roughly 1.8 meters of mainspring. We’re talking nearly six feet of coiled alloy you can admire through the sapphire caseback.

And because a spring that long doesn’t unwind evenly, Oris fitted a patented non-linear power reserve indicator. The scale compresses the first several days and stretches out the final ones, so the reading gets more precise as time goes on.

A Millimeter Off the Top
The 2026 rework follows the playbook Oris ran on the ProPilot Date last year. The stainless steel case shrinks from 44mm to 43mm and thins from 13.85mm to 13.2mm. Which, we might add, is no small feat for a watch hauling that much spring.

The date window also relocates to 6 o’clock, where the old layout had it wedged in beside the small seconds at 9.
The dial gets the biggest upgrade, though. A vertically brushed center now sits within a stippled, grainy perimeter that flows into the subdials, and it’s offered up in either black or a handsome pine green. The jet-engine bezel fluting remains, and is echoed on the caseback ring for good measure.

Cordovan or Steel
Your two options are a multi-piece stainless steel bracelet or a dark brown Cordovan leather strap, both of which have been secured by Oris’s folding LIFT clasp. Water resistance also holds at a travel-proof 100 meters.
And the value case basically writes itself. Hand-wound movements with reserves anywhere near this long tend to live in considerably pricier metal from the likes of IWC and Panerai.
