Omega Finally Embraces Hi-Vis Orange for the Iconic Seamaster Diver 300M

Two decades ago, Omega introduced the color orange into its dive watch repertoire, but not simply for aesthetics. The contrast of the hue against darker shades can actually help with underwater visibility for serious divers. But until now, the brand’s most recognizable dive model, the Diver 300M, has never fully embraced the hi-vis color.

A Measured Approach to Color

Of course, the orange addition does serve a utilitarian purpose. As such, Omega didn’t just splatter the color all over but meticulously integrated it with the mostly-black watch for enhanced contrast. Glossy orange is used for the lollipop seconds hand and around the cardinal hour markers, with the “Seamaster” script in the color as well. But that’s pretty much it!

The 42mm stainless steel case remains unchanged from recent Diver 300M releases, complete with the distinctive twisted lugs, crown guards, and the helium escape valve at 10 o’clock. The aluminum bezel insert stays matte black with white lume markings, keeping the tactical aesthetic that we loved about the recent refresh.

However, longtime fans of the Diver 300M will also notice that the dial ditches the traditional wave pattern in favor of a flat, sandblasted black aluminum surface. It serves as the perfect canvas for the orange accents. The skeletonized hour and minute hands remain rhodium-plated, creating a nice balance with the orange elements as well.

Modern Engineering

Inside, the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Caliber 8806 continues to power the diver, with 55 hours of power reserve, METAS certification, and 15,000-gauss magnetic resistance. Visible through the sapphire caseback, the movement’s finishing features rhodium-plated bridges and beautiful arabesque Geneva striping.

The Strap Situation

Affixed to the timepiece are two band options. First up, the mesh bracelet will be a popular choice, simply for its versatility and class. But if you want to double-down on the orange, there’s a rubber strap option that’ll be perfect for you. Perfect for the pool or errands around town, the integrated strap amplifies the orange theme significantly, transforming the Diver 300M into a proper summer watch.
