G-SHOCK might be known for making the most indestructible timepieces on the planet, and at affordable prices. But that doesn’t mean the Japanese watchmaker can’t dabble in luxury territory now and again. Since 2022, they’ve continued to evolve their MR-G B2000 series, blending ancient Japanese swordsmith aesthetics with cutting-edge shock resistance and full-metal construction.
Now, they’ve put out what’s arguably the most stunning example yet. Oh yeah, it also hoists a cool $8,000 price tag.

A Phoenix Rising From Tradition
Where previous MR-G releases have drawn inspiration from samurai armor and folding screens, the B2000KT-3A takes things further with an intricate hand-engraved bezel featuring a phoenix in flight. To achieve the pattern, third-generation metal craftsman Kobayashi Masao created each bezel individually, engraving the auspicious bird that’s been a symbol of good fortune and longevity in Japanese culture for centuries.
The bezel itself evokes the tsuba iron guard of a Japanese sword, complete with a distinctive dark blue-green kurogane-iro DLC coating applied to titanium that’s already been deep-layer hardened. If you’re wondering what kurogane-iro is, it’s literally “iron color” — the hue that iron takes on when heated, which gives this watch its rich, almost organic appearance. Adding to the visuals are four bezel screws set with actual emeralds, symbolizing wisdom and the power to see truth in Japanese culture.

Crystallized Titanium and Copper Hues
Beyond the engraved bezel, the watch’s titanium case underwent a heat treatment that creates the crystallized pattern similar to the nie crystals on a katana blade. The brown AIP coating gives off a coppery hue that complements the green tones beautifully, while the dial ring features a gradated color meant to capture the dynamic flutter of phoenix feathers.
Meanwhile, the Clad Guard Structure protects the crown and buttons.
The watch is adorned with a dark green Dura Soft rubber strap with a titanium clasp that receives the same deep-layer hardening and brown AIP treatment as the case.

Still a G-SHOCK at Heart
For all the artisanal metalwork and luxury materials, this remains a proper G-SHOCK with the shock-resistant architecture that made the brand legendary. Tough Solar charging precludes battery replacement, and the watch pulls time accuracy from both Multiband 6 radio signals and Bluetooth connectivity with your smartphone via the Casio Watches app.
You also get 200m of water resistance, Super Illuminator LED lighting, dual time zones, and the full suite of G-SHOCK functions including stopwatch, timer, and calendar.
