Over a decade ago, G-SHOCK decided to create a watch line specifically for aviation professionals. It was called the Gravitymaster and it had a slew of cool features that tailored to its purpose. In 2016, the watch became the brand’s first-ever to have GPS-hybrid time reception technology, which is a big deal when you’re 30,000ft up. With the previous edition, the GR-B200 introduced in 2020, the Gravitymaster got the addition of Bluetooth connectivity and other sensors, which have been improved upon even more with the brand-new GR-B300 generation.
Continuing to push the envelope of what a watch can do and where it can go, and without requiring you to break the bank, G-SHOCK now adds several new features into the Gravitymaster range, including a Tough Solar movement, which powers up all the watch’s elements with the light of the sun or any artificial light, and a fully-analog watch face. Past iterations of the Gravitymaster have been known for their analog-digital hybrid nature, blending the best of both worlds. Now with the full analog system, the watch takes on a much more mature look.
However, the design language of the new Gravitymaster is not dissimilar to previous versions, including the jet fighter aircraft-inspired bezel with bespoke Carbon Core Guard structure that uses the same carbon material used in aircraft fuselages. We also have more wearable dimensions with a 59mm x 54.7mm case that’s 15.7mm thick (the GR-B200 was significantly larger at 63mm x 54.1mm x 18.3mm). G-SHOCK also brings back the classic features, such as the 200m of water resistance, dual-time display, Bluetooth smartphone link, alarm, stopwatch, countdown timer, auto calendar, and more.
The new Gravitymaster GR-B300 is rolling out worldwide, with North American availability coming soon. To learn more, head over to G-SHOCK’s U.K. website where it’s priced at £279 (~$345).
