Seiko-Owned Credor Releases a Green-Dial Version of Its Locomotive Reissue

Last year for its 50th anniversary, Seiko-owned Credor revived the Locomotive, an arguably obscure watch model from 1979 designed by watch legend Gérald Genta. During his career, Genta is said to have designed over 100,000 different models (most prominently the Royal Oak, Nautilus, and Ingenieur), many of which we aren’t even aware of. However, the Locomotive is a tad bit more significant than that.

Taking inspiration from locomotive trains, Genta and Credor decided to implement a wholly hexagonal shape for the watch’s case, dial, and even the six bezel screws. Now, the Japanese watchmaker is back with its 2nd variant of the Locomotive, now with a hexagonal honeycomb-like pattern on the dial.

New Dial, New Aesthetic

Swapping the radiant black dial from the inaugural reissue with a dark green color and a new dial pattern. Pushing the hexagonal theming to the absolute limit, the dial now features the shape all over, appearing to differ ever so slightly from one cell to the next. Not only does this pattern match up with the rest of the watch but it also pulls inspiration from the green signal lights of the old railway system.

While the first time around, we could marvel at the unique shapes of the timepiece, this time around we can really appreciate the more granular details of the dial, which now seems to bring a whole new aesthetic to the timepiece.

The Rest of the Specs

Aside from the dial, this watch carries over so many of the specs from the 2024 version, including the titanium case that’s 38.8mm in diameter and 8.9mm in thickness. Featuring both brushed and mirror polishing, the case also delivers 100m of water resistance once again.

Behind the solid caseback is the Seiko 6L35-based Credor-exclusive CR01 automatic movement with 45 hours of power reserve.

Adorned with an integrated titanium bracelet that looks oddly similar to that on a Royal Oak, the Locomotive also retains the same 4 o’clock crown and dial design as last year’s version and, thus, the original 1979 watch.
