Last year, Casio broke the internet with the unveiling of its Ring Watch. Available in raw or gold-plated steel, these served as functioning timepieces that put the digital watch aesthetic around your finger. Problem was, they came in size 10.5 but didn’t adjust terribly easily.
Now, Casio has solved the problem with an entirely new Ring Watch, this time shrinking the iconic G-SHOCK 5600 model and opting for the classic (and durable) resin case instead — in three different color choices. Best of all, just like a real 5600, the ring is strapped on with an actual pin buckle.

The 5600 DNA in Miniature Form
The DWN-5600 “Nano” is a legitimate descendant of the square-case legend that started it all back in 1983. When engineer Kikuo Ibe set out to create his “unbreakable” watch with the Triple Ten concept (10-year battery, 100m water resistance, 10-meter drop protection), he probably never imagined his creation would eventually live on someone’s ring finger.
Yet here we are, four decades later, and that same octagonal design language has been faithfully miniaturized into a 23.4mm x 20mm case with a 7.5mm thickness. The floating module concept that made the original DW-5000C revolutionary is all here, complete with the shock-resistant construction and 200m of water resistance.

Finger Fashion
Unlike its steel predecessor, the DWN-5600 embraces the resin construction that made the 5600 series a cultural phenomenon. The bio-based resin bezel and band are very practical. Resin has always been G-SHOCK’s secret weapon for absorbing impacts while keeping weight down.
The adjustable band (48-82mm) solves the fit issues with the original ring watch, but Casio’s encouraging owners to think beyond traditional finger wear. The pin buckle system opens up creative mounting possibilities for putting this on, say, a water bottle or dog collar, or even a gym bag.

Still a Timepiece
Functionally, the 6-digit LCD display handles the essentials: timekeeping, dual time, 1/100-second stopwatch, and LED backlight. The module shares DNA with the prior CRW-001 but makes some compromises — the auto-calendar only handles 28 days for February, and accuracy drops to ±30 seconds per month versus the typical ±15 for full-size G-SHOCKs.
The three colorways (black, red, yellow) mirror classic G-SHOCK palettes, and the collector-style packaging with G-shaped display stand shows Casio understands this is as much about the experience as the functionality.
